What We Believe
Ankeny Presbyterian Church (APC) offers Sunday morning worship services at 9:30 a.m. in the church’s sanctuary.
The worship service follows a rhythm of “Gathering Around the Word”, “Proclaiming the Word”, “Responding to the Word”, and “Being Sent Forth to Serve”. Communion, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Music is provided by our church Choir, our Organist, and a Worship Ensemble. The music is a blend of styles including traditional, contemporary Christian, jazz, and music from different cultures.
Families are encouraged to worship together, and then remain following the Morning’s Worship to share in a ministry of Christian Education.
The Sacraments at APC:
celebrate two sacraments, baptism and the Lord’s Supper (communion).
Celebration of the sacraments is one way Christians may affirm their beliefs,
symbolize their union with God, and acknowledge Christ's sacrifice made for
each and every one of us. Baptism is the outward sign that Christians are
incorporated into the saving life and work of Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Communion is a remembrance of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.
The sacrament of baptism may be administered on most Sundays, if arrangements are made with the pastor in advance. Persons seeking baptism for themselves or their children should call the church office.
We invite all baptized persons to share in the sacrament of communion. Communion is celebrated monthly at the Sunday 9:30 a.m. worship hour, and on other appropriate days of the Christian year.
